Rossil L. Simmons' Obituary
GARRETTSVILLE Rossil L. Simmons, 75 year of age of Garrettsville, became Our Gift to God on Friday September 18, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Simmons was God's Gift to Us on March 17, 1934 in Berrysburg, West Virginia, the son of the late Luther and Sarah (Peck) Simmons. He was a 1953 graduate of Belington High School in Belington, West Virginia. A longtime area resident, he was employed for 23 years at Rockwell International in Newton Falls, Ohio, following which he worked as an electrician at Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg for 19 years, retiring in 1996. Mr. Simmons served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960. He was a member of The Apco Fish & Wildlife Conservation Club and attended Faith Evangelical Free Church of Garrettsville. Mr. Simmons enjoyed fishing, gardening, loved camping with his family, and will always be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, a friend to all, and a family man true to his word. On June 30, 1956 he married his sweetheart Barbara (Pingley) Simmons who survives at their home. Also surviving are his devoted children, sons Randall (Monica) Simmons of Streetsboro, Chuck (Eileen) Simmons of Windham, David (Christina) Simmons of Edinburg, daughters Vicki (Darrell) Brosius of Garrettsville and Joy (Steve) Hall of Citrus Springs, Florida. 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, his brother Lew (Peggy) Simmons of Akron, sisters Violet Corder of Toledo, Ohio and Pauline Wonycott of Parkersburg, West Virginia also survive. His granddaughter Leanne Brosius-Osborne, 6 brothers and 6 sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Monday September 21, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at Faith Evangelical Free Church of Garrettsville, where calling hours will be from 10:00 A.M. Monday until the time of services. Pastor Peter King will officiate. Mr. Simmons will be laid to rest at Windham Township Cemetery, with Randall Simmons, David Simmons, Josh Simmons, Stephen Hall, Mark Winas and Adam Mast respectively serving as pallbearers. Military services will be provided by the U.S. Air Force and Windham American Legion. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
