Obituary
SHALERSVILLE
Russell E. “Rusty” Griffin, 57 years of age, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019. Born in Ravenna, Ohio on January 2, 1962, he was the son of the late James “Cecil” and Vashti (Kirkbride) Griffin. A lifetime Shalersville resident, Rusty was a 1980 graduate of Crestwood High School. He had been employed by Shalersville Township as road supervisor and cemetery sexton from 1981 until retiring in 2002. He currently was employed at Performance Elastomers Corporation in Ravenna as an extruder. Rusty loved ATV racing, an avid reader, and a true outdoorsman with hunting and fishing being two of his favorite sports. Rusty will forever be remembered for the love he had for his children that included watching scary movies together, and singing songs he liked with them, always finding one more song that he just had to share with them. On July 14, 1990, he married his devoted wife Maryellen (Sevc) Griffin who along with his loving children Meghan, Logan and Lydia Griffin survive at home. He also is survived by his dear siblings John (Kelli) Griffin of Connecticut and Marsha (Glenn) Herrier of Ravenna, and many other loving family and dear friends. Calling hours will be Thursday October 10, 2019 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. with a brief reflection to begin at 8:00 P.M. Final resting place will be at Rinard Mills Cemetery in Monroe County, Ohio.
