Sally Brugmann's Obituary
MANTUA Sally Brugmann, 101 years young, passed away Sunday July 22, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Sally was born on November 4, 1910 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Dora (Schmikula) Paserk. A lifetime resident of the Streetsboro and Mantua areas, Mrs. Brugmann started with her late husband Oscar Brugmann, Sr., Oscar Brugmann Sand & Gravel, Inc. in 1929, which remains their family business today. Sally enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cake decorating, gardening and was a champion checker player. As the Matriarch of the Brugmann Family, her warm smile and loving manner will not only be missed, but will always be a cherished memory for her family. A lady in the true sense, Sally shared her life in community involvements, especially holding a special feeling for the 4 C's Food Drive. An amazing person, she remained alert and active for 101 plus years right up until the time of her passing. She was a longtime member of the Mantua Center Christian Church and the Mantua Garden Club. On December 18, 1928, she married Oscar Brugmann, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1975.Also preceding her in death was her son Roy N. Brugmann on October 28, 2011, her brothers Pete Paserk and Joe Paserk and her sisters Helen Whitlock, Mary Paserk, Ogla Sladky and Pauline Esposito. Sally is survived by her son Oscar "Sonny" (Gail) Brugmann, Jr. of Shalersville, her daughters Olga (Don) VanAuken of Shalersville and Joan Martin of Mantua, her daughter-in-law Loretta Brugmann of Mantua, her brother Louis Forro of Savannah, Georgia, her sister Irene Smith of Williamsburg, Ohio, as well as 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua. Funeral services for Sally will be Thursday July 26, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at her family residence, 4021 Mennonite Road, Mantua with Rev. Chad Delaney and Fr. Michael Garvey officiating. Her final resting place will then follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro beside her devoted husband.
