Sandra Jean Barnes' Obituary
WINDHAMSandra Jean Barnes, 72 years of age, passed away Tuesday April 17, 2012 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Born in Beech Creek, Pennsylvania on November 13, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Genevieve (Anderson) Hevner. A homemaker, Mrs. Barnes was a lifetime resident of Windham, and a 1957 graduate of Windham High School. Bowling, gambling, playing Bingo at St. Michael's Catholic Church were some of her pastimes, as well as being an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan, while attending high school sporting events of her family were a priority in her life. On September 20, 1957, she married Royal L. Barnes, Sr. who survives at their home. Also surviving are her children Royal L. "Buddy" (Mary) Barnes, Jr and Tina (Michael) Brown both of Windham and Melissa "Lisa" (Craig) Sanders of Wooster, Ohio; her brother Glen Hevner of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren Chad, Bridgette, Royal, III, Samantha, Clifford and Clinton, and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings Leslie and Robert Hevner, Jr., Margaret "Dot" McCloskey and Gwendolyn "Cookie" McCool. Calling hours will be Friday 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory service in Mantua, where her funeral service will be Saturday April 21, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. James Lang officiating. Mrs. Barnes will then be laid to rest at Windham Township Cemetery.
