We are sorry to announce the passing of Sarah Theresa Reney on August 20, 2020. Sally was the oldest of five children born to Michael and Florence(Cavalier)Gallagher on July 20, 1931. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Walter Gallagher, son Stephen Reney and great grandson, Matthew Smith. Sally was born and raised in Newport, Rhode Island and moved to New Hampshire on her marriage to Lawrence Fleming Reney on August 11, 1950. In 1957 the family moved to old Saybrook Connecticut. Sally and Lawrence had five children. The oldest, Aileen Weiss of Monmouth, Illinois, Theresa Krny of Madison Connecticut, Michael Reney of Hudson New Hampshire and Lauraine Van Oss of Southington Ohio. Sally moved to Ohio in 2019 to live with Lauraine and her family. Sally was proud of her work as a legal secretary and office manager for various shoreline businesses including the Ferry Tavern, Tel Aid and the Dock and Dine. Sally loved to cook and sew and care for her cats Salty, Pepper, Boots, Mr Cat and Charlette. She especially loved the holidays when she would decorate the house. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and her favorite nickname was Nana Claus. She also enjoyed going to her writers' group and left us with numerous stories of growing up in a big family. Sally also loved a good joke and loved to swim in her swimming pool. Sally is survived by one brother Joseph (Fran)Gallagher and two sisters Catherine Chipman and Florence Sallander. Also surviving are her four children, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews . Sally was always very generous with her donations to the Vietnam vets and memorials may be left to that organization. Services for Sally Reney will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, Ohio where condolences and memories may be viewed at www.greenfamilyfuneralhome.com.
