SHALERSVILE-MANTUA
Sonny R. Tomblin, 80 years of age, passed away Sunday January 17, 2021 at University Hospital in Cleveland. One of 19 children, Sonny was born in Logan, West Virginia on May 31, 1940, the son of the late Earl and Virchie (Sargent) Tomblin, Sr. A longtime resident of the Shalersville-Mantua area, he had been employed as a truck driver at General Electric in Ravenna from where he retired in 2002. Always active, Sonny was an avid bowler, and shuffleboard player, bowling at Twin Star Lanes in Kent, and with family members during the winters that he and Ann spent in Florida. He also will be remembered for playing cards with his children and grand-children, camping with family in West Virginia and Florida, and his ever present smile and good nature personality. The memories Sonny created with family and friends will be cherished forever! On July 15, 1962, he married his beloved Ann (Workman) Tomblin who will cherish their 58 years, and was deeply saddened as Sonny passed on her birthday. Also surviving are his children Gary Tomblin and Cathy Rager, both of Loganville, Georgia, Pamela (Tracy Harper) Dowd of Kent, Ohio; siblings Earl Tomblin, Jr. of Cleveland, Kenneth Tomblin of Logan, West Virginia, Ramona (Lee) Jarrells of Shalersville, and Barbara Randolph of Ravenna. His grandchildren Sarah, Deidre, Ashley, Alexa, Sidney IV, Emma, Amber and William “Buddy”; great-grandchildren Braylen, Jackson and Levi also survive. Calling hours will be Thursday January 21, 2021 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Face masks and social distancing will be practiced. For those unable to attend due to COVID-19 pandemic, the family understands and asks that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
