Stephen Dale Spence's Obituary
Stephen Dale Spence, aged 75, passed away following complications from heart surgery. Steve was a lifelong resident of Mantua Ohio.
Steve will be greatly missed by his wife, Nina (Lorinchack) of 48 years & his sons Darren (RaeAnn), Clint (Erica), & Kevin Spence. Grandchildren Riley, Cole, Ava, & Axton Spence. Many nieces and nephews & honorary father to Kenneth Stoots.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Haward and Violet Iva (McCullum), and his siblings, James (Vivian), Jenette (Chuck) Fear, Betty Carden, and Mary Nemeth.
Steve graduated from Crestwood High School in 1968. He enlisted in the US Navy and served his country for 4 years. During his service he did part of his tour in Vietnam, his duties included mechanic for the fleets, sharp-shooter, and landmine sweeper.
After his honorable discharge, he went to work for Mid-Continent Telephone and retired as an Area District Manager from Windstream.
Steve answered to many names, husband, Dad, Master of Solutions (he could make, design, or create the solution for any issue), and most famously Captain Hammer!
Steve enjoyed many hobbies, especially with his family, riding his Harley with his wife, fishing, hunting, and rebuilding Harleys. One of Captain Hammer's passions was participating in Bass Tournaments with his boys. Steve was the biggest fan and mechanic when his sons were in motocross, and anytime he was able to spend time with his grandchildren.
Steve will remain with us, in our hearts and minds.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
