ROOTSTOWNPastor Steven A. Barb, 59 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Tuesday April 17, 2012 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Pastor Barb was God's Gift to Us on March 9, 1953 in Parsons,West Virginia, the son of the late Richard and Vera (Knotts) Barb.A longtime Portage County resident, he was a graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School, and had lived in Rootstown the past 2 years. Pastor Barb has devoted his life to serving the Lord, beginning his Ministry at The Cathedral of Tomorrow in Akron as minister of counseling and correspondence. Over a 40 year period, he traveled the United States and Canada carrying the word of the Lord as both a Minister and Evangelist, moving the lives of people he came in contact with in a positive spiritual direction. Pastor Barb leaves a legacy of sunshine in the name of his creator.On November 13, 1974, he married his loving wife Linda L. (Baird) Barb who survives at their residence. Also leaving to mourn his passing are his children Jeremy (Jeanna) Barb of Florida, Joshua (Kristin) Barb and Gabriel Barb both of Ohio, Noah Barb of Rootstown, Stephanie (Adam) Maxwell of North Carolina, Stevie, Michaela and Lindsay Barb all at home, his siblings David(Susan) Barb, Debbie(Bob) Kruger both of Ohio and Cathy (Larry) Angel of Garrettsville, as well as 9 grandchildren.Pastor Barb is being laid to rest at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown at a private family gathering. A Celebration of the Life of Pastor Barb will be Saturday April 21, 2012, 5:00 P.M. at Freedom Faith Chapel, 4454 Tallmadge Road, Rootstown, Ohio with Pastor Chas Pierce officiating. A time of fellowship and dinner will follow at the church. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
