Suzanna "Suzy" Hafemeister's Obituary
MANTUA Suzanna ?Suzy? Hafemeister, 70 years of age, passed away at her residence on Sunday July 30, 2017. Born in Ravenna, Ohio on March 15, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Petro and Christine (Cheselka) Hlinka. A lifetime Mantua resident, she was a graduate of Crestwood Schools in 1965, following which she attended St. Elizabeth?s School of Nursing in Dayton where she graduated as a registered nurse. Suzy started her career in nursing at Robinson Memorial Hospital, and then was employed by Dr. Peter Chen. Her lifetime in nursing also included employment at Longmeadow Care Center and University Hospital-Geauga Medical Center. Devoted to her membership at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Mantua, she served as a church lector, played the flute, and participated in the Liturgical Dance at the church. Her life included many additional attributes, as she was a graduate of Professional Clown School in Hudson, and also was a Professional Fitness Trainer?at First Fitness in Hudson. An accomplished artist, her water color paintings were one more of her passions that she enjoyed sharing with all who knew her. She and her husband Bill traveled on numerous cruises, and were members of the Diamond Club of Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. For over 50 years, Bill and Suzy had their weekly ?Date Night? where they enjoyed dinner together and shared special moments. Suzy has left at her passing memories for those who knew and loved her that will forever be cherished, including the love she had for her children, and grandchildren. The?courage she has shown throughout her illness will be an inspiration to those who in the future may face difficult illnesses. On December 28, 1968, she married her beloved husband William Hafemeister who survives at their home. Also surviving are devoted daughters Christina (Craig) Haas of Solon, Ohio and Jennifer (Robert) Bruce of Las Vegas, Nevada; her dear brothers and sisters, Ronald (Linda) Hlinka of Middleboro, Massachusetts, Harvey Hlinka of Powell, Ohio, Catherine ?Cathy? Cavanaugh and Sonja Yunk both of Mantua, and her loving grandchildren Nora, Robert and William. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of State Route 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday August 4, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, 11045 St. Joseph Blvd., Mantua, Ohio 44255 wit Fr. Edward Stafford officiating. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH). Final resting place will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105, which was very close to her heart.
