Suzanne "Sue" Hanson's Obituary
Suzanne "Sue" Hanson, (nee Lega), age 90 of Chagrin Falls, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Ohman Family Living at Holly. Born November 28, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Julia (Arbicar) Lega.
Sue graduated from high school in St. Louis, Mo., and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri. On January 13, 1962 she married her husband of 55 years, James N. Hanson, who preceded her in death in 2017. During their marriage, Sue and Jim enjoyed traveling, dancing and going out to eat.
Sue was a very artistic person. Her talents included quilting, rug braiding, leather working and crafting her special "Neckties by Suzanne". She was a strong, independent woman who enjoyed keeping busy. She was also a member of the Tuesday Morning Quilters and a devoted member of the Mantua Country Baptist Church.
Sue is survived by her son Christopher (Mary) Hanson, her grandchildren Charles, Jack, Meg, Sam, Molly, Jessie, Ben, and great granddaughter, Hailey.
Sue's son Hjalmar "Hal" Hanson passed away August 26, 2024, just 2 days after her own death. Hal, age 60, was a 1982 graduate of West Geauga High School and enjoyed cats and photography. Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail, Mantua, from 10 - 11:30 a.m. A memorial service to celebrate her life will begin at 11:30 at the funeral home, with Pastor Murray Bay officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maggie's & More, 6821 Wakefield Rd., Hiram, 44234. Maggie's provides employment opportunities for individuals of all abilities. Sue was always inclusive to anyone who had a need.
