Thomas E. Phifer's Obituary
SALEM Thomas E. Phifer, Sr., 55 years of age, passed away Thursday April 14, 2011 unexpectedly at Jackson Medical Center in Jackson, Alabama. Born on June 24, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Thomas O. and Ruby (Farmer) Phifer. A resident of the Salem and Hanoverton, Ohio areas the past 5 years, he formerly lived in Geauga County and the Mantua area for many years. A 1974 graduate of Newbury High School, Tom grew up in Newbury and was employed for 30 years at North American Manufacturing in Cleveland. For the past 5 years, Tom has been employed as a Field Service Engineer for CMI Americas in Salem, Ohio. Tom enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and was a Harley Rider, and was a member of the F.O.E. Lisbon, Ohio chapter. Tom will always be remembered as a man who loved his family, friends and co-workers. On February 5, 1977, he married "Rosie" (Madison) Phifer who survives at their home. Also surviving are his sons Thomas E. (Michelle) Phifer, Jr. of Newbury and Corey (Melissa Sparks) Phifer of Chardon, his mother Ruby Phifer of Middlefield, sisters Darlene (Donn Breckenridge) Fury of Troy Township and Donna ( Phillip Jones ) Molnar of Tomball, Texas, as well as his three loving grandchildren Jamie, Cameren and Chase. He was preceded in death in 2010 by his father Thomas O. Phifer and in 2001 by his brother-in-law Daniel Fury. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home, State Route 44 at the corner of Pioneer Trail (S. of Rt.422) Mantua, where his funeral services will be Wednesday April 20, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Tom will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township.
