MANTUA
Thomas J. Smith, 48 years of age of Mantua, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. He was born on June 27, 1974 in Cleveland, with an infectious smile and zest for life to parents Thomas B. and Joyce L. (Toman) Smith.Thomas was an early resident of Bainbridge where he was a graduate of Kenston High School in 1992 and proceeded to earn his associates degree at Hocking Technical College (Nelsonville) in environmental science. On February 19, 2005 he would meet the love of his life Angela R. (Kinker) Smith, who fell for his smile and kind gentle soul; they would marry on March 27, 2010, and settled their lives in Mantua.
Preceded in death by his father, Thomas, he is survived and mourned by many including; his mother, Joyce and wife Angela, son Calvin Smith (Mantua), stepsons Joseph Gamble (Canton) and Kaleb Gamble (Canton), surrogate son, (nephew) Thomas Smith (Newton Falls), daughter Alivia Smith (Mantua), stepdaughter Julya Gamble (Brimfield), brothers Steven (Kim) Smith (Mantua), Daniel (Lorna) Smith (Lemoore, CA), Brian (Stacey) Smith (Shalersville), sisters Shelley (Chuck) Kellerman (Garrettsville), Cheri Smith (Bainbridge), grandkids Rosaline, Noah, Weston and many others who knew him only as GrandTom, several nieces and nephews, and many more family and friends.
Tom was a machinist at Alloy Precision Technologies but didn’t chase the dollar, he will be remembered as a devoted father, family man and friend. If you were a friend of Tom’s, you were family, he would do anything for anyone because he knew no stranger. He tackled life with his whole self, wore his big heart on his sleeve while sporting a smile that would change lives. His hobbies included anything outdoors; camping, fishing, hiking, cornhole, kayaking, loving all “critters”. In 2019, he helped start a non-profit with his wife called Concrete Footprints Corporation and actively volunteered at their events.Calling hours have been scheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, from 11A.M – 1 P.M. with a Celebration of Life immediately thereafter from 1:00P.M. – 2:00 P.M..Friends will be welcomed immediately after the Celebration of Life at 4810 East High Street, Mantua (park with playground).In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made directly to a GoFundMe page that has been set up by a group of friends: https://gofund.me/355d5d0c.
