RAVENNA
Timothy J. Szanto, 70 years of age, passed away Tuesday April 8, 2020 after a period of failing health. Tim was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 24, 1949, the son of the late James and Elaine (Adam) Szanto. A resident of Ravenna the past 9 years, he formerly lived in the Mantua area, and was a graduate of Crestwood High School. He had been employed as a Lithographer in Cleveland, and in later years he was self- employed. Tim served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, and was a member of DAV. Tim was a former member of the Tri-County Drug Task Force, and assisted with the construction of the Portage County Sheriff’s Building in Ravenna. He also helped the establishment of the Ravenna Senior Center. Tim was an avid collector of all types and kinds of music memorabilia, and found great pleasure in listening to any kind of music. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Streetsboro Congregation. On December 8, 1984, he married his beloved wife Nancy (McGinnis) Szanto who survives at home. Also surviving are his brothers Thomas (Debbie) Sobczak of Mantua, Terry Sobczak of Ravenna, 2 nieces, his dear 4 legged daughter “Vina”, and several other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his step-father Alexander Sobczak. No calling hours or services at this time. Final resting place will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio at a late date.
