Velma G. Shelton's Obituary
STREETSBORO Velma G. Shelton, 92 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Friday March 9, 2012 at Stow Glen Retirement Center in Stow, Ohio. Mrs. Shelton was God's Gift to Us on June 12, 1919 in Rickman, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Ezra and Mae (Cleek) Green. A homemaker, Mrs. Shelton had been a resident of Streetsboro the past 43 years. A former employee of Black & Decker, she retired after 14 years of service as an assembly line worker. Mrs. Shelton enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and loved gardening, while being a grandmother provided her the opportunity to share her special love and tender moments which she will long be remembered for by her family. On January 26, 1947, she married her beloved husband James W. Shelton who preceded her in death on December 18, 2002. Also preceding her were her sons Joel K. and James E. Shelton both in 1995, her brother Homer Green, sister Ruby Fleming and grandson Brian Shelton. Mrs. Shelton is survived by her devoted daughter Teresa Fiorentino of Stow, her dear brother Carson Green of Homestead, Florida, 4 cherished grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, her niece Gail (Bill) Graham of Michigan and nephew Jeff (Brenda) Fleming of Tennessee.Funeral services will be Tuesday March 13, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. until the time of services. Final resting place for Mrs. Shelton will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township beside her husband James W. Shelton.
