Vera B. Newcomb's Obituary
NELSON TWP. Vera Bell Newcomb, 94 years of age, passed to heaven Wednesday November 7, 2012 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Warren, Ohio. Born on June 11, 1918 in Nelson Township, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Leath (Walters) Bell. She was a lifetime Nelson area resident and a graduate of Nelson High School. A homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and spending time with her family, Mrs. Newcomb was a member of the Nelson United Methodist Church where she was active with the church Literary Music Club. Mrs. Newcomb had been employed at Johnson Rubber Company in Middlefield prior to her marriage on June 24, 1939 to Rolland E. "Rocky" Newcomb, their marriage taking place at Nelson Ledges State Park where Rocky's parents, Seymore and Ethel Newcomb, lived and were park caretakers. The couple were blessed with 60 years of married happiness before Mr. Newcomb's passing in 1999. Also preceding her in death were her brothers Harland, Carl and Emerson Bell. Mrs. Newcomb is survived by her sons Robert (Deborah) Newcomb of Warren, Ohio, Thomas (Kathy) Newcomb of Parkman and Donald (Tami) Newcomb of Mansfield, as well as 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday November 13, 2012 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua at 11:00 A.M., where visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Officiating will be Pastor Rick Hughes. Mrs. Newcomb will then be laid to rest at Harrington Cemetery in Nelson Township beside her loving husband "Rocky" In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Windsor House of Champion, Ohio where she had recently resided, or to the Nelson United Methodist Church.
