Virginia Shale's Obituary
GARRETTSVILLEVirginia "Lou" Shale, 81 years of age of Garrettsville, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Born on May 1, 1928 in Northampton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Virginia (Hooverman) Cook. A resident of Garrettsville the past 68 years, Lou was a 1946 graduate of Garrettsville High School, after which she attended Bowling Green State University. She was the owner-operator in the 1970's of Liberty Chrysler-Plymouth in Garrettsville and was employed for over 30 years as a sales representative for various automotive dealerships throughout Portage County. Lou also started the Silver Crik Saloon in Garrettsville, which remains today as her family owned business. She was a member of Crescent Chapter No. 7 O.E. S. in Garrettsville. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed playing softball, tennis and field hockey, and was a well known bowler for Cook Heating. and also for many years was a bowling instructor at Sky Lanes in Garrettsville. Survivors include her son Kenneth "K.C." Shale, daughter Leigh Kraft and brother Michael (Rebecca) Cook all of Garrettsville, and her grandchildren Amanda (Anthony) James and Brett (Julie) Kraft and great-grandchildren Casey James and Ethan and A. J. Kraft. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1971. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home and Crematory Service in Mantua, with O.E.S. services at 5:45 P.M. Friday. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Hughes of the Nelson United Methodist Church officiating. Final resting place will follow at Park Cemetery in Garrettsville, Ohio 44231.
