Virginia L. White's Obituary
Virginia L. White, 82 years of age, passed away Monday June 1, 2015 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Born in Barberton, Ohio on October 23, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Lucius and Edith (Carlton) Converse. Mrs. White graduated from Mantua High School in 1950 and earned her degree in Business Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College. In 1956, she married Rev. Neil While and they lived in Ohio, later settling in Okemos, Michigan where she lived for over 43 years. Mrs. White was active in politics and served as the Meridian Township Clerk in Michigan for 25 years. She was continuously reelected until she retired, and in 1989 was named Clerk of the Year by the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks. She was also known for sidewalk bike paths installed in Okemos and helping to get the Lake Lansing Park band shell built. Survivors include her daughter, Holly (Keith) Komon of Pennsylvania; 2 sons William White (Becky) of Washington State and David (Elizabeth) White of Maryland; 6 grandchildren, Joshua Howell and Isabella Komon of Pennsylvania, Barry White of Michigan and Bobbie Marie White of Washington, Conner and Sean White of Maryland; her sister Mary Stamm of Mantua, Ohio and 17 nieces and nephews. Mrs. White was preceded in death in 1999 by her husband Rev. Neil White and her sister Ruth Young. Calling hours will be Sunday June 14, 2015 from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Funeral services for Mrs. White will be held Monday June 15, 2015, 10:00 A.M. at the Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 St. Rt. 82, Mantua, Ohio with Pastor Laurie Metzko officiating. Final resting place will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township, Ohio. An informal gathering for Michigan friends is planned on Tuesday June 16, 2015 from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at Coral Gables, 2838 E. Grand River, East Lansing, Michigan.
