Wanda J. Bender, 81 years of age, passed away Monday September 27, 2021. Born in Dial, Georgia on March 14, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John and Hazel (Bruce) Parker. Following graduation from Meadville High School in 1958, Wanda then attended, and was a 1962 graduate of Edinboro State Teachers College. Her teaching career included employment as an elementary school teacher in Erie, Pennsylvania. For many years, she and her husband were managers at several KOA campgrounds in numerous states. A resident of the Mantua area since 1999, Wanda was well known for her time at Haylett’s Corner Store, and then as a vendor at the Streetsboro Flea Market until her retirement. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Mantua. Wanda loved spending time with her grandchildren, together creating lasting memories. On December 22, 1963, she married Harry “Mike” Bender who preceded her in death on July 31, 1998. She is survived by her daughter Jackie Garza of Florida; sisters Patricia (Van) Simpson of Wooster, Ohio, Diane (Brian) Lottig of Mantua, and Laura (Jon) Pollitt of Meadville, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Alex and Brent, and 4 great-grandchildren. No calling hours or services. Cremation will be held.
