Wendy May Hickey's Obituary
WENDY MAY HICKEY, born March 19, 1966, beloved mother to Alexander Hickey, 26, of
Hiram, Ohio and Ryan Hickey, 21, of Hiram, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024 of terminal illness from ovarian cancer at the Cleveland Clinic/Akron General Hospital Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center in Fairlawn, Ohio.
Wendy was born in Auburn, Ohio to Brenton and Joanne Edic. Wendy was well liked by
everyone she met and had a passion for horses. Her love for horses continued throughout her life, as she owned and great pride in taking care of Eve, Rocky, and Oakley on our property in a nice barn with a pasture for them to roam and graze. Through her childhood Wendy actively participated in 4-H and regional horse shows. She graduated from Kenston High School in 1984, studying college entry, and graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1996. Wendy was a hardworking, meticulous accountant for Kinetico, Geis Companies and Best Management during her working career.
Wendy was a beloved daughter of Brenton and Joanne Edic, beloved sister of Carrie Edic, Faye Phillips, Sally McGrew and BJ Edic.
Wendy was a wonderful, devoted mother to Alexander and Ryan, her pride and joy. She always said their birth changed her life for the better and they always felt the love and support she provided. Alexander and Ryan will be forever grateful for all the life, laugher and memories they shared together. The teachings, values and kindness she instilled in Alexander and Ryan will be with them forever.
Wendy was a devoted and loving wife to Michael Hickey; she will be missed and in all of our hearts forever.
Wendy was preceded in death by her father, Brenton Edic, and her sister, Carrie Edic and is survived by her mother, Joanne Edic, her sister Faye Phillips, her sister Sally McGrew, her brother BJ Edic, her sons Alexander Hickey and Ryan Hickey and her husband Michael Hickey.
There will be a private funeral service at Shady Side Cemetery. Father Francis of Our Lady of Perpetual Help will preside over the funeral service.
While Wendy endured her battle with ovarian cancer for seven years, we know she is at peace in heaven now.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to your favorite local 4-H Chapter.
