William Michael Houghton's Obituary
GARRETTSVILLE William Houghton, 68 years of age, passed away Wednesday June 26, 2013 at his residence. Born in Warren, Ohio on November 13, 1944, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Apthorpe) Houghton. He had been employed as a painter for many years at Preferred Painting in Cleveland. A. U.S. Navy Veteran, he had served during the Viet Nam Era, and held membership in Windham American Legion Post No. 674. Mr. Houghton enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, bowling, horse racing and was coach for many years of his children's baseball teams. Survivors include his wife of 39 years Kathy (Cooper) Houghton children, Michael (Theresa) Houghton of Garrettsville, Raymond (Diane) Houghton of Mantua and Mischelle Hall of Akron, brothers Jeff (Stefanie) Bennett of Canton, Donald Houghton of Rootstown, sisters Kathy (Herbert) Miller of East Canton and Rae Louise (Greg) Mihal of Tennessee, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Johnee Lea Miller and special friends Spyder and Bear. Funeral services will be Saturday June 29, 2013, 2:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until service time. Full military honors will then be provided by The United States Navy Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to his family.
