AURORA William Roman Miller, Sr., 80 years of age, a resident of Aurora, Ohio passed away Tuesday March 16, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Miller was born on February 17, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Miller graduated from Aurora High School, class of 1948 where he was President of his class, and captain of the football and basketball teams. In recognition of his athletic achievements he was inducted into the Aurora High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993.He attended Kent State University, and was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict from 1948 to 1951. A lifelong resident of Aurora, Ohio, he founded Suburban Storm & Door Company in 1957 and the business served the community for over 42 years. Mr. Miller had a particular interest and expertise in historic preservation, and he worked to maintain the architectural heritage of Aurora and all of the Western Reserve. Mr. Miller was a vintage car enthusiast and collector of antique and classic American automobiles. He was a member of numerous automobile clubs, including the Nifty Fifties of Northeast Ohio, and the Antique Car Club of America. Mr. Miller was known nationally in the classic car genre and his 1958 Ford Fairlane Convertible was acquired for a major automobile museum. Mr. Miller was an avid golfer, and had a passion for the sport that he enjoyed for over 50 years. Mr. Miller was a familiar face at many area golf courses, and particularly enjoyed golfing with his sons and grandson. He maintained an active membership in United States Golf Association. On September 28, 1953, he married his wife of 56 years Amelia Rose (Gennett) Miller who survives him at their residence. Also surviving is his daughter Karen (Quiomars) Eskandari of Dublin, Ohio and Badhovedrop , Netherlands ; sons William R. Miller Jr. of Providence, Rhode Island, Roman (Kimberlianne) of Aurora, Ohio and Fritz (Tammy) of North Ridgeville, Ohio; grandchildren Sarah (Scott) Barnard, Emily (Richard) Reginelli and Nicholas (fiancAC. Rachel) Miller and his great grandchildren Gabrielle and Gavin Barnard and Benjamin Reginelli, as well as his brother Jeffery (Naomi) of Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Romain (Bowsher) Miller. Calling hours will be Friday from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, St. Rt. 44 at the corner of Pioneer Trail, Mantua, Ohio. Funeral services for Mr. Miller will be Saturday March 20, 2010 11:00 A.M. in the Mausoleum of Calvary Cemetery, 3469 Lincoln Way, Massillon, Ohio with Rev. Robert R. Henderson officiating. Following U.S. Army military honors, Mr. Miller will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
