William Anthony "Bill" Vaccaro's Obituary
William Anthony "Bill" Vaccaro, 72, of Mantua, Ohio, died peacefully on February 1, 2025.
Bill was born to Anthony and Judy (DiPaola) Vaccaro in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He lived there through high school, playing his beloved Hammond B3 in multiple bands with his lifelong buddy, Warren Buttler. Having lost his dad at age 10, Bill and his mom moved to Ohio when Bill was a young adult.
He became a certified hairstylist, following in his father's footsteps, and in his late 20s, he opened Vaccaro's Family Hair Care in Streetsboro. The "shop," as he called it, Portage County's oldest and most established salon and Bill's legacy, lives on with its original name and new owner, Tina Mordue, Bill's dear friend and co-stylist. He did business as he did life, "the old fashioned way... no gimmicks," and treated everyone like family.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Vaccaro of Minnesota. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Sheila Vaccaro; nephew, Dean Vaccaro; niece, Shari Vaccaro; and her children, Leo and Sabrina Southwick; and cherished cousins, Rosie Bruno-Beach and John Bruno. Many cousins and countless friends and customers will remember Bill.
Bill chose his final resting place: with Jack at the family tree in Better Place Forests, St. Croix Valley, Minnesota. The Vaccaro family will have a private ceremony.
