William A. Welch's Obituary
AURORA William A. Welch, 86 years of age, passed away Monday February 28, 2011 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Born on November 16, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late William J. and Elsie B. (Felitz) Welch. Formerly of Cleveland, he was a resident of Aurora since 1939. A heavy machine mover all of his life, he was a member of Teamsters Local No. 407 and also had been employed as a rigger for Norris Brothers in Cleveland for 9 years, retiring in 1975. Mr. Welch was an avid collector of antique cars, taking great pride in maintaining his collection. A. U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he received the Purple Heart during his service time. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 193 and of the Mantua Center Christian Church. On June 15, 1950, he married Barbara (King) Welch who survives at their home. Also surviving are his sons William (Rita) Welch of Stow, Todd (Patricia) Welch of Ravenna and Rollie (Lauren) Welch of Mantua and two grandchildren Andrew and Allison Welch. He was preceded in death by his brother Nelson Welch. Visitation will be Thursday March 3, 2011 from 6:00 P.M.-7:30 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where his funeral service will begin at 7:30 P.M. with Rev. Chad Delaney officiating. Military honors will be presented by U.S. Navy Honor Guard and members of American Legion Post No. 193.
