Ethelyn was my piano teacher and said I was her favorite student. Maybe because I was her first one in Mantua when they moved here. The Fitzsimmons lived in the house that I was born in. My parents sold it to the Fitzsimmons in the 1950's. I would visit her every time I visited Mantua, and last saw her two years ago. At that time, she remembered giving me my piano lessons while our dog Pete sat next to her. I will miss her.
Mrs. Fitzsimmons' 102nd birthday at her favorite tea house, Quintealia's Tea House in Burton Ohio. This was one of our favorite family meal times with her. Ethelyn loved to dine out and we had the great pleasure of dining with her over the years. She was a grand lady and great friend for many, many years and will be missed.
I was truly saddened to read this, even though she lived a long and wonderful life. Back in the early 80s as a teenager, I would wash her maroon Chrysler every Saturday for the hearty sum of $5.00, which included an interior vacuum. She was the nicest, no-nonsense woman, even back then as a young woman in her late 60s. She was a gift to the people, and town, of Mantua. God bless you, Mrs. Fitzsimmons.
