Although we were not related, you were like family to me. I used to cut through your yard as a girl to visit my childhood friend, and I remember you as the nice man with the golden retriever in the backyard. When you became friends with my parents, I watched as you and my dad helped each other with projects--you were always so willing to help others. I remember calling you in college when my car got stuck in the driveway in the winter, and you came and shoveled it out so I could get to class. You always supported me, whether it be my high school graduation party or my wedding. Your love of nature was inspiring, and you taught me so much about the wildlife at family cookouts. You will be deeply missed.
