I met Kathleen “Kathy” as a Villa Angela Academy “VA girl” as she was in my younger sister’s class. For several decades a small group of grads and dear friends get together and share life’s journeys. Kathy was not defined by her illness, in fact, we seldom discussed it. She truly exemplified the first three letters of her illness “c a n” and lived fully with support of family and friends. I in fact didn’t know her diagnosis, and I didn’t need to, as to know Kathy was to know she loved her family and was full of gratitude of any kindness bestowed upon her. She will not be forgotten but remembered as a strong woman rooted in faith, and a fine example that life is a journey better shared and learned with others. I had the privilege of spending the past weeks with her reminiscing and preparing all of us to share our sorrows but know she rests in eternal peace. Anna Luzar ‘79
