Mary B. Brehm's Obituary
AURORA Mary Berthena Brehm, 85 years of age of Aurora, became Our Gift to God on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Mrs. Brehm was God?s Gift to Us on January 10, 1932 at Lakewood, Ohio, the daughter of the late Walter and Ruby (Pickering) Fishburn. A resident of Aurora since 1964, Mary grew up in North Eaton and was a cheerleader and Valedictorian of?her class at North Eaton High School. Upon graduation from Hiram College with a Bachelor?s of Arts degree, Mary?taught?First Grade in Oxnard, CA while her husband Ed was stationed at Point Mugu Naval Air Station. After returning to Ohio and the birth of their four children,?Mary returned to the teaching profession and taught predominately kindergarten in the Mantua and Aurora School Systems. Mary and her husband, Ed ran a preschool in their home for over 20 years. Mary and Ed enjoyed dancing with the Chagrin Valley Square Dance Club and they enjoyed traveling around the country attending square dance conventions. Besides enjoying teaching young children and dancing, Mary enjoyed cross stitching, antiquing, photography, genealogy, baking pumpkin bread, Bible study, Scrabble, writing poetry and being with her family. She was a longtime member of Parkside Church and The 103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Reunion Group. On July 26, 1953 she married her beloved husband, Ed Brehm. She is the devoted mother to Linda (Mark - deceased) Bauer of Houston, Texas, Dave (Nancy) Brehm of Powell, Ohio, Diana (Jim) Leitch of Rocky River, Ohio and Larry (Karen) Brehm of Gahanna, Ohio, the dear sister of Bonnie (Ray - deceased) Scheerer of Norwalk, Ohio, Jack (Karen - deceased) Fishburn of Marengo, Ohio and Dick (Sheila) Fishburn of Grafton, Ohio, and the loving grandmother of Christina (Jeff) Andres, Stephen (Lisa) Bauer, Julie (John) Foley, Laura Brehm, Molly Leitch, Debra (Kevin) Gerber, Marybeth Leitch, Kim Leitch, Billy Brehm and Matthew Brehm and loving great grandmother of Lucy Foley, Ruby Foley and Elizabeth Gerber. NO CALLING HOURS. A graveside burial will be held Friday April 28, 2017, 9:00 A.M. at Westlawn Cemetery, Rt. 82, Mantua Township, Ohio. A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL TAKE PLACE ON FRIDAY, APRIL 28, 2017 AT 11:30 AM AT PARKSIDE CHURCH, 7100 PETTIBONE RD., CHAGRIN FALLS, OHIO 44023 with Pastor Dan Larison officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to Easter Seals, The 103rd OVI Memorial Foundation Endowment, 5501 East Lake Rd., Sheffield Lake, Ohio or the charity of your choice.
