Otto G. Falkenberg's Obituary
Otto G. Falkenberg, age 81 of Shalersville Twp., passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Born on August 13, 1943 in Ashtabula County, he was the son of the late Theodore and Christine (Loesch) Falkenberg.
Otto graduated from Garrettsville High School in 1961 and then served his country in the National Guard from 1962-1969. During that time period, he was involved with keeping the peace during the demonstrations/riots in Cleveland, Akron and Youngstown in the late 1960's.
On January 17, 1970, Otto married his beloved wife of 46 years, Marilyn (Kurtz) Falkenberg who preceded him in death in 2016. Otto was the owner and operator of Falkenberg Excavating Inc. for almost 45 years. He was intrigued by the mechanics of how things worked, and could often be found disassembling and reassembling anything from radios to engines. Otto enjoyed building street rods, restoring tractors and Harley Davidson motorcycles, and was an avid NASCAR enthusiast.
Otto is survived by his two children, Kimberly (Tom) Judge of Hudson and Kenneth (Beckie) Falkenberg of Ravenna; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Gavin, Madison and Ryan Judge, and Brandon and Ayden Falkenberg; his sisters Teddy West(the late Eldon) of Freedom Twp., and Lorelei (Rodney) Lopick of Canton, as well as 14 nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday, October 18, 2024 from 3-7pm at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail, Mantua. Per Otto’s request, interment will be for immediate family only at Riverside Cemetery, Mantua, Ohio.
