Phyllis S. Cory's Obituary
Phyllis (Gregory, Cutlip) Cory, age 83 of Mantua Township, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Born January 19th 1942, in Anmoore, WV, she was the daughter of the late Garl and Mary Jane (Stutler) Gregory.
As narrated by Phyllis:
"My greatest assets were my three children, Kim (Justin) Vinecourt, Lisa (Gary) Urban, and Scott Cutlip. Motherhood was trying at times with the birth of three children in a little over three years. They all contributed to an abundance of gray hair... which I quickly covered to preserve my age. I spent all my time with my kids as a stay-at-home mom until all were in school all day. We walked a lot since we only had one car, to the shopping center, pet shows, etc., then when we got a car, to Bible School, Church, baseball and Scouts. We were always the home for all the neighborhood kids, whew! After all the kids were in school, I worked with my husband in our family business for many years before going to BankOne (Chase Bank) for the last 21 years of my career. I also obtained a real estate license and sold real estate part-time for 10 years."
"Grandchildren are so precious to me. First, Ashley who came as a beautiful bonus with Scott's wife Lisa. We loved her unconditionally. Then along came Joshua, born to the arms of a grandma ready to love. Finally came Dillon who taught us all the blessings of having a disabled child to love! His love for all of us is so very simple and pure."
"Family celebrations were always fun, chaotic and exhausting, but I love when everyone comes home for the day! Wish they came together more often. After my first husband left, I met Sam and we dated 4 1/2 years before deciding to get married. So we took off with two other couples on our Goldwing motorcycle to get married in Virginia. We had great fun traveling together until the bikes became too big for these old guys to handle. Sam and I enjoyed growing old together... morning puzzles, baseball (Indians) games and helping each other through health issues. I don't know what I would have done without him. He called me his "nagger"."
"When you read this, I'll be gone. Please don't mourn my death because life was fun, but God has a better place for me. Forgive me for all of my shortcomings. I will always remain in your hearts and I hope you will strive to meet me in heaven."
"To my friends and family, May God bless you as he has me!"
