Missing you every minute of every day - you always hated having your picture taken - here are some we got anyway. All my Love Mary
I met Steve for the first time 4.5 years ago on the day I moved into the house next door. He said he would be the best neighbor I've ever had - I'd never see him. We shared a laugh for the first time, but not the last. Steve could be counted on to wave vigorously at any member of my family that he saw out and about through the years, even if we were on lawnmowers. My kids took great joy in yelling "hi neighbor!" Anytime they saw him or Mary. We shared many conversations over the years, he checked in on us about goings on in the neighborhood and offered a helping hand any time he could, always without prompting. Steve looked out for our family in a way I didn't know neighbors still did in these times. I took comfort in knowing he was always next door, standing guard. My favorite memory is exchanging Christmas gifts with Steve and Mary every year. The first year I bought them a gift, I was not sure what to get them. I shopped for weeks trying to think of something they might enjoy. 2 days after giving that first gift bag, Steve knocked on my door to tell me he had never in his life put a puzzle together, but it was his new favorite thing. He said it was the best gift he had ever received, and I can't explain the joy that brought me. Steve was a very special person that will be sorely missed from across the yard. Mary, you have our deepest sympathy, and we're always right next door if you ever need anything.
Steve was a wonderful next door neighbor. He told me when my family moved in 4 years ago "I'll be the best neighbor you've ever had. You'll never see me!" We both laughed together for the first time, but not for the last. Steve and Mary buy Christmas gifts for our family every year. The first year, I had no idea what to buy for them. A few days after dropping off the gift, which included jigsaw puzzles, Steve knocked on my front door just to tell me that he had never in his life done a puzzle, but he loved it and it was the best gift he had ever received. That was the true beginning of a meaningful neighborly relationship. He always waved vigorously anytime he saw us out and about, even if we were both on our lawn mowers. Haha. Steve always jumped in to help out, without being asked, any time he saw a way to help us. He looked out for my family in a way I didn't know people still did for each other. He will be truly missed from across the yard.
